CERAMICS

In 2006, Lynnette suffered a devastating reaction to a prescription medication which damaged her sight, balance and left side motor skills. Left with little sight and unable to walk she hid away from the world spending the next five years working daily on balance and strength and learning to walk again. Her vision evolved over the next six months, but left damage which restricted her ability to draw, paint or create detailed print making. She needed a creative outlet and so studied ceramics and created the series Cocooning To Heal. The series is symbolic of her recovery. The figures are Lynnette as she evolved, transforming from cocoon to chrysalis to emergence. The tactile nature of working with clay allowed Lynnette to express herself through touch.

BRONZE

In 2015 Lynnette returned to the University of NSW to undertake a second Masters of Art, where she studied and fell in love with Bronze sculpture. Building on the theme of Cocooning To Heal, Lynnette created Emergence II, this time in Bronze. Emergence II lives on the table in Lynnette’s studio. Lynnette’s creative journey continues.
